Pre-requisites
Level 1 – must be 18 years of age
Level 2 – minimum of 500 hours and 6 months of documented experience as level 1 rope access technician
Level 3 – minimum of 500 hours and 6 months of documented experience as level 2 rope access technician

Contents
Theory (8 hours) - Training (32 hours)
- Individual rope maneuvers such as: use of backup devices, use of ascenders and descenders, change-overs, passing knots, rope-to-rope transfers, deviations, re-anchor, negotiate edge, rope and sling protection, horizontal aid climbing, vertical aid climbing
- Rescue scenarios including: pick off rescues, through knots, deviations, rope-to-rope, from horizontal aid and vertical aid
- Rigging knots, hitches, anchorage systems, hauling and lowering, tensioned rope systems
PPE and Log Book
Equipment will be provided by the training facility.
Candidates initially upgrading to the next higher level shall provide documentation in accordance with Safe Practices for Rope Access Work demonstrating at least 500 hours of rope access experience obtained with a valid certification at their current certification level.
Candidates shall hold a certification level for a minimum of six months prior to being eligible for certification advancement to the next level.
Certification
SPRAT level 1, 2, or 3
Certifications for rope access should be maintained in accordance with Rope Access Certification Requirements
Refresher course
Refresher training should be provided to work team members that demonstrate inadequate retention from training or that have not used rope access systems or other fall protection systems for six months or more or at a minimum, on an annual basis and as required by the presiding regulatory authority.
